Christmas 2014

Black has long been acknowledged for being forgiving, classic, and very easy to wear. Because of its popularity and since black is universally typically worn with a cult-esk following akin to that of denim, one challenge in donning black is to avoid blending into the herd. To retain focal interest, when wearing black select a piece of highly unusual|unexpected drama (as pictured). The other option is this: When wearing a blendable LBD, play up the drama by pulling out all the stops with hair, jewelry, and makeup. Going this route the dress becomes the supporting cast while its host is left to star.
To celebrate the season, my family and I dined at the very elegant LA Prime Restaurant at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, California. In keeping with the restaurant's exquisite views and elegant surrounds, opting for a wardrobe reflective of sensual class, I chose to wear a floor length lightweight wool Jean Paul Gaultier black turtleneck dress with a highly unusual back design detail. For increased drama, the dress was paired with a Veronica M black wool hat and Giuseppe Zanotti pour Balmain satin and suede bow sandals.
